Antigen Rapid Test (RTK) COVID-19 Swab Tests
Screens for SARS-CoV-2, a virus that causes COVID-19. It is a quick screening tool to pick up any possible infection early.
Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) COVID-19 Swab Tests
The most accurate and definitive test for COVID-19 that directly detects the presence of the COVID-19 antigen in an individual. Results will be out between 24 to 48 hours. You can shorten it by booking our Premium COVID-19 test with a turnaround time of 6 to 10 hours.
Covid-19 Neutralising Antibody Test
The tests are blood tests. It checks for previous SARS-CoV-2 infection as part of epidemiological investigations. Venous blood will be sent to a lab. Our doctors will advice you on the Point-of-care testing (POCT) and results in a timely manner.
Need a COVID-19 Test?
Speedoc offers two of the most effective and recognised COVID-19 swab tests - the Antigen Rapid Test Kit (RTK-Ag) and Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR). However, the result from an RTK COVID-19 swab test is faster while PCR is more accurate.
It has been suggested that the best time to take a COVID-19 home swab test is 5 to 7 days after exposure to another COVID-19 patient.
Some people may have no symptoms at all but are carriers. If you are concerned, expecting to travel, or in contact with crowds or elderly people, it is best to get a COVID-19 swab test done.
Our RTK swab tests are done in accordance with Malaysia’s MOH guidelines that far exceeds the World Health Organization’s (WHO’s) recommendation of at least 80% sensitivity and 97% for specificity. The tests are able to pick up at least 90-93% of individuals who are infected with COVID-19, but yes, they may also produce between 1% to 2% false or fake-positives (specificity of 99-100%) in healthy individuals. The RTK swab tests produce faster results but with reduced accuracy rate compared to the gold standard RT-PCR test. In such instances, where the RTK is positive but there are no symptoms or close contact, a second RTK or even a RT-PCR swab is often recommended.
Yes, the COVID-19 swab tests are performed and overseen by professionally-licensed doctors, nurses and trained swabbers. The Antigen Rapid Test Kit (RTK-Ag) swab is validated for use by MOH, and the RTK-Ag samples are sent to MOH-accredited laboratories.
Yes, you can get Speedoc’s doctors to come to your home to perform an at-home COVID-19 swab test. However, if you’re experiencing symptoms of COVID-19, for instance, flu, cough, or fever, please inform us in advance. This is so that we can bring along with us the necessary equipment and tools for the swab test.
Apart from informing your family members, friends, employers, or employees, the process of contact tracing should now kick into action. Speedoc will log your positive result with the relevant government authorities to start identifying, assessing, and managing those you have been in contact with. Your contacts will then be monitored by the relevant authorities for a determined point of time starting from the date of last exposure.
Refrain from driving yourself to the hospital or using public transportation if you are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19. It is best for you to find a family member or friend who can drive you to the hospital while observing strict SOPs.
